I could not be more against this plan change! This is not a small adjustment to the plan, but a MAJOR change to all the people and businesses that are around this dirty, noisy, ugly, blight.
I personally wonder why the county spent so much money and time creating a new Master Plan. I was asked to review it. I guess that was a waste of my time!
It also means I will have to change the hospital that I currently go to. I have no intention of being exposed to the beep, beep, beep, of the machines backing up, the pollution, or the vibrations. A dirt berm will not stop any of those things. Just ask people that current live near the active mines.
I supported the county’s plan to put our money ($6,000,000) in turning our county into a major ecotourist attraction. The future of ecotourism could be huge for us. I am concerned that we really don’t understand how to do it. The county should be fighting this mine that will be on the major road connecting the west side with the east. A 700 acre mine is not going to be attractive to the tourist we are spending so much money to attract. What we should be thinking about are the businesses that those tourist will be attracted to and require. Please, please do NOT change zoning for this property that is going to be so important to future of the whole county and the people who live here.Thank you for your time,
